Why Georgia

365 visa-free days, a company in 1–2 business days and 58 tax treaties

The first week decides most people. Steam off the khinkali on a cold morning, the Caucasus parked at the end of an ordinary street, an alphabet that curls like vine tendrils, a supra where strangers toast you by name. Underneath the romance sits a practical fact: daily life is safe and startlingly affordable — the kind of place where plans get bigger, not smaller.

Then the paperwork surprises you from the other direction. Georgia concluded long ago that the best way to attract people who build things is to leave them alone: the Public Service Hall is one bright glass building where the ticket printer hands you B-47 and the screen calls it within minutes, and an LLC is registered in one to two business days. No currency controls, no CFC rules, no minimum capital — the state examined its own bureaucracy and kept only the stamps.

So the honest sales pitch is modest: your workday starts at Fabrika over a flat white; your weekend starts two hours up the Military Highway. The one catch is that the paperwork never learned English — the forms, the notary's ledger, the tax portal. That catch has a solution, and you're reading its website.

  • 365days visa-free for citizens of 95+ countries — a full year to decide if it's love
  • #7in the World Bank's final Doing Business ranking for ease of doing business
  • 58double-tax treaties in force, from Germany to the UAE
  • 0currency controls, CFC rules or minimum share capital requirements
  • ≈½the living costs of Berlin or Munich — with better tomatoes
  • 183days of presence make you a Georgian tax resident — often a very good idea

Taxes in Georgia

Three rates the system runs on — and the condition on each

Georgia taxes territorially: income earned inside the country at low rates, most foreign personal income not at all. Below are the three rates the whole system runs on, and the conditions people usually learn too late.

1%

Small Business Status for entrepreneurs

1% on turnover up to ₾500,000 a year, 3% above it. Consulting, legal and medical work are excluded: we check your activity against the exclusion list before you file.

0%

Foreign income and profit kept in the company

Most foreign personal income — dividends, interest, rent — is untaxed in Georgia. Company profit is untaxed until distributed. The caveat: work performed physically from Georgia is Georgian-source.

5%

Dividends, at the moment you pay out

15% profit tax and 5% on dividends arise only on distribution. While money stays in the company, there is no tax.

How it works

How it works: four steps, one quote

Step 01

Free assessment

Thirty minutes by video. You describe where you're moving from, what you earn and what you need; we lay out the options and what each costs. If a plan won't survive a tax inspection, you hear it now.

Step 02

A written quote

After the call you get a quote in writing: work, timelines, fees and state duties as separate lines. The agreed figure doesn't move — if we underestimated, that's our cost, not your surcharge.

Step 03

We handle the paperwork

By power of attorney we deal with the Public Service Hall, the bank and the Revenue Service ourselves. You get short updates on each step; you're needed in person only where a signature or biometrics require it.

Step 04

You're settled

Residence card in your wallet, account working, 1% status active — and one number to reach us, in English, German or Russian.

Our promise

Everything listed here we once arranged for ourselves — slower and more expensive than it needed to be. Your move is built from what we learned.

  • A fixed quote in writing before any work begins — state fees and VAT listed separately, never “discovered” later.
  • A licensed Georgian lawyer on every case, plus a personal manager and an interpreter when you need one.
  • An answer within one business day — in English, Russian or German, whichever you think in.
  • An honest “no” when a setup won't survive a tax inspection — before you pay, not after.
  • Your documents handled confidentially and returned — originals never wander.

FAQ

Common questions about residency, the 1% tax and banks in Georgia

Citizens of 95+ countries — including the EU, UK, USA, Canada, Ukraine, Russia, Israel and most of Latin America — may enter visa-free and stay up to a full year. Under current rules the clock restarts on re-entry, but we recommend a residence permit for anyone building a life here: it survives rule changes, border moods and airline delays.

With documents in order: an Individual Entrepreneur is registered the next business day; an LLC takes one to two. Both can be done remotely by power of attorney. The slower part is usually the bank account — plan one to two weeks for compliance, which we prepare for you.

Three catches, all manageable. First, the 1% applies to turnover (not profit) up to ₾500,000 a year — above that, 3% kicks in, and two years over the cap ends the status. Second, some activities are excluded — notably consulting, legal, medical and other licensed work. Third, it requires monthly declarations by the 15th. We check your eligibility before you count on it — a wrongly claimed status is reassessed at 20% with penalties.

Georgia taxes individuals territorially: foreign-source income — dividends, interest, capital gains on foreign assets, foreign rent and pensions — is generally exempt, even for tax residents. The famous nuance: work you perform while physically in Georgia counts as Georgian-source, even for a foreign employer or clients abroad. That's precisely why the 1% entrepreneur setup exists — we structure it properly from day one.

Yes — apartments, houses and commercial property, in full ownership, with no special permits. The one exception is agricultural land. Registration takes about a day at the Public Service Hall. We verify the title and any liens in the Public Registry before you transfer a single lari.

Harder than it used to be, easier than the horror stories. Georgian banks screen new foreign clients case by case; approval depends on a coherent story about who you are and where funds come from. We prepare that file, book the appointment and sit next to you. Business accounts for registered companies are usually smoother than personal ones.

The usual tracks: a work/entrepreneur permit (tied to your Georgian business activity or employment), an investment or property-based permit, family reunification and study. Thresholds and evidence requirements shift periodically, so we assess your case against the current rules at the free consultation — and only recommend a track we'd bet on.

No. In Tbilisi and Batumi you'll live comfortably with English; younger Georgians prefer it. Every official procedure that does require Georgian — forms, notaries, tax portal — is exactly what you're delegating to us, with sworn translations where the law demands them.
