What you should know
Marriage registration without ceremonial services carries no state duty. It takes place at the time stated in the application — as a rule, on the day you apply; the application is valid for two months. We can file the application for you; the bride and groom attend the registration in person.
A foreigner needs proof of lawful stay: a visa-free entry stamp, a visa or a residence permit. A certificate of marital status is not on the Public Service Hall’s list of required documents — the absence of impediments is confirmed by the parties’ own declaration. If a previous marriage was dissolved, you will need the dissolution document with an apostille and a notarised translation.
The marriage certificate is recognised abroad through an apostille: Georgia (the country) has been party to the Hague Convention since 2007. The 4–8-day apostille is included in the price; if you fly out right after the ceremony, we arrange a same-day apostille. For countries outside the convention we arrange consular legalisation; we check the recognising country’s requirements in advance.
